Effective November 1, 2010, Citibank is cutting many of their checking account fees. Unlike Chase, Bank of america or any other competing banks, Citibank is trying to bring in revenue rather than scaring consumers away with fees for pretty much everything.
You can expect to see a reduction in the minimum balance required on their top checking account and a reduction in some fees for their basic accounts.
According to Bloomberg, “Clients with Citigold accounts can avoid monthly fees if they keep $50,000 in combined balances at Citigroup starting Nov. 1..Citigroup also plans to eliminate fees for some account holders at the basic account level.”
Hopefully, once this is in place, we can see a change in bank fees from Chase, Bank of America and even Wells Fargo.
